DESCRIPTION

Shalex Canvas Cote is a highly flexible clear acrylic sealer designed to seal and protect a wide range of materials including and canvas.

Unlike wax and silicone based water repellents canvas cote can be over coated and can seal smaller holes such as needle punch. it is also effective on more open weave materials where other sealers are ineffective against hydrostatic pressure (e.g. wind driven rain).

Canvas cote is low odour, low VOC, non toxic and water based for applicator ease of use and safety.

Canvas cote ia an economical sealer that can also be used for sealing a range of porous substrates.

Canvas Cote is most efficient on more absorbent open weave materials

PREPARATION - This Step Must Be Followed

Protect or mask all areas not intended to be sealed. Surfaces should be clean, dry and free from any dust, dirt or contaminants that may interfere with adhesion.

Apply a liberal brush coat, working well into seams or through any embroidery. This step is recommended to assist in sealing any small voids in the material.

Check porosity of the substrate prior to application by applying to a small section to see if the product beads or is absorbed.

APPLICATION

Canvas Cote is best applied with a garden pesticide type sprayer. A continuos fine mist is required to achieve an optimal result. A number of fine mist coats is prefered to a heavy coat.

Mix contents well in swirling motion prior to use. Apply Canvas Cote spraying in a tight circular motion to fully wet out the material. Allow to dry for 1 hour and re-coat. Problem areas may require multiple coats.

Some materials may display a water beading effect due to close weave of the fabric or the presence of the silicone based sealer. Do not continue to apply where Canvas Cote runs off. A brushing motion with a damp clean soft brush (e.g. paint brush, banister brush or broom) may be required to work Canvas Cote into the surface and allow it to wet out the surface.

Canvas Cote creates a fine clear ‘skin’ over the fabric. Applying multiple coats may stiffen the fabric slightly. Do not fold or store equipment until fully dry
