FIBRO
/ ASBESTOS ROOF

DIRECTIONS
-
Clean the roof with a strong
anti-fungal agent, such as liquid pool chlorine diluted 1:2 in water
for example. (Remember that using a high pressure cleaner on old fibro
cement roofing is illegal). Allow 1-2 days, or until total kill is achieved.
-
Next, remove
the fungus with a broom or brush, without scrubbing so hard as to
lift fibres. (Check local authorities requirements).
-
Apply one liberal coat
of 'Soak in Mix', (50% Sealit Multipurpose,
50% water), generously applied in even strokes, giving total coverage
to the entire roof.
-
Allow to dry.
-
If waterproofing is the
optimum goal, apply one coat neat Sealit
Multipurpose to fully seal and encapsulate the fibres.
-
However, (instead of Step
5) - if planning on recolouring the roof, a proven formula is to mix
50% acrylic paint, with 50% neat Sealit
Multipurpose and apply 2 coats.
-
The edges of the roof should
also be given care, and if necessary a neater finish can be obtained
using a paintbrush.
-
Allow to dry.
- For a hard protective finish
as an optional extra, a coat of neat Glaze
can be applied in the same fashion as above.
