SHOWER BASES - PRE-TILING

WATERPROOF USING

Note:   Undercoat / Primer where required, is Sealit Multi Purpose "Soak in Mix
i.e..: 50% Sealit M.P. & 50% Water

DIRECTIONS

  1. Check all construction has been properly completed - free from dust and gaps filled with suitable compound.

  2. Cut 225gm fibreglass matting to size, (covering the shower base, plus 100 -150mm up the sides from the base, and also vertical strips covering 100mm either side of the vertical corners). It is wise to cut the matting before any application takes place, to avoid difficulty and mess trying to cut after Sealit Liquid Membrane has been initially applied.

  3. With a pencil, mark out the area where the product is to be applied, and remove the sheeting to allow product application.

  4. It is sensible to allow a panel in the shower base to remain untreated at first for you to stand in while you complete steps 5-8 more easily, (coming back to repeat these steps for this area at jobs completion).

  5. Apply one liberal heavy coat of primer 'Soak in Mix', (50% Sealit Multipurpose, 50% water).

  6. Allow to dry.

  7. Apply coating of Sealit Liquid Membrane to total area including base drain hole, and 1500mm high on vertical corners.

  8. While Sealit Liquid Membrane is still wet, embed pre-cut sections of 225gm fibreglass matting into the first coat of Sealit Liquid Membrane making sure there is overlap in the matting, and also ensuring the matting is pressed firmly into the corners. (A flat scraper is ideal for this).

  9. Next, apply membrane over the matting until totally encased. Once again, this process must cover base plus 100 - 150mm up the sides from the base and 100mm either side of the vertical corners, 1500mm high.

  10. Give the untreated walls a coating of 'Soak in Mix' primer, (50% Sealit Multipurpose, 50% water).

  11. Repeat steps 5-9 for the area that has been used to stand.
